HISTORY
Praise and worship bellowed into the atmosphere in 1890 from the homes of believers who were committed to spreading God's gospel into the Down The Bay community. Without the structure of an organized building, these believers moved from home to home. They were missionaries, with hearts to establish a foundation, by which the gates of hell could not prevail against it. Their heart's desire became a reality in 1899 when they moved from the confines of their homes to a site at Cedar and Delaware streets - creating the foundation for Delaware St. Missionary Baptist Church. Richly blessed with God's prosperity in 1904, the membership grew, leading the church to purchase a permanent site on Lawrence Street for $1,600.
Delaware is still proudly standing today, with a creed boldly guided by the Spirit and focused solely on God's holy Word. With open arms of love, we extend an invitation to join us as we praise our way through the today's challenges!
